Arena!

Friday, Nathan and I spent most of the day moving tyres from one spot on our property to another.

And this is our end result:

Arena

An arena for the horses!

It’s not quite finished yet, it needs another layer of tyres (arriving next week) and some hot tape around the outside, but I’ve got an area I can work the horses seperately in.

Emma and I have been working on ground manners lately and she’s getting better. She’s not as pushy anymore and accepts that I won’t let her rub her head on me, not now, not ever and that if she requests, I will rub the itchy spot on her forehead with my hands.

And I mean, sure, after all that work I’m having a hard time walking today and Nathan has had to relocate one of my ribs at least every hour, but it feels good to have it done.

It feels really good.

Yay! That is a wicked arena!

  • That’s a great idea for an arena. Good job. Hope you recover soon. It does look like a lot of work.

Um…you did all that with both pneumonia *and* Ehlers Danlos?!

Now that is quite an effort!!!

    Hope you enjoy it :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I’m enjoying both your blogs and trying to catch up.

Um, why do you have so many tires in the first place? Is it a Southern Hemisphere kind of thing?

Beautiful view from that arena. Those mares will have a lovely view as they get their attitudes worked off. :D

Winter – No, not a Australian thing at all. When I decided that I needed an arena, I was thinking of what I could build it out of that wouldn’t cost me anything. I remembered seeing an ad in the newspaper ‘free tyres delivered’ so I rang around until I found the company who delivered them. They’re just seconds from a car tyre place. Free, easy and if I get thrown, I’ll bounce right off them. (I’ll bruise, but better than being thrown into a metal fence).

If this were my front yard, NOTHING would get done in the house. Not chores, not laundry, not writing, not cleaning, not ANYTHING. I’d just sit there and stare. Child Protective Services would probably come and cart away my baby at some point, and my hubby would probably leave me, it’d be that bad.
